Back at school Detrás en la escuela

Uncategorized 13 Comments »

We returned to school today and everyone was keen to tell stories about the trip to Spain. Mrs Brankin tried to do the whole day speaking spanish. Well it was “hola” in the morning and “adios” at the end of the day but she did try.

It seemed a bit strange to come back to an English school after our exciting adventures but we soon got used to everything.

Don’t forget to leave a message for us.

Pablo the Bear

Pablo travelled back to his home city of Madrid. He enjoyed going back and got up to some great adventures. He was very helpful  because he was always nice to anyone who was feeling a bit homesick and made sure they cheered up.

He met a special friend called Pabletta and the two of them joined in with all the activities even if sometimes they got left behind………………Megan! Pabletta really enjoyed the fancy dress party because Celina made a special outfit for her.

The pair had a really nice surprise because at Madrid airport they met with lots of friends who came back with them to Liverpool.

Pablo was a little bit naughty in Madrid’s big park because he wanted to drive a police car. He had to be told off but he said he was sorry and the police man didn’t put him in jail!

He hurt his foot when we went to the mountains in Segovia but Lois looked after him by bandaging his leg and he did feel a bit better.

He went to see Real Madrid’s ground and sat with some of the players. He wanted to play football and said that his best position was right midfield but his sore leg meant he couldn’t get into the team. Pablo thinks that someone called David Beckham trod on his toe on purpose!

Mrs Brankin, Mrs Hewer and Mrs Raffery all thought that  he was much nicer than Mr Hewer and Mr Rafferty especially when he took them shopping to the designer shops. His Platinum Bear Bank credit card came in very handy. He liked the Corte Anglais shop the best because he had a nice cup of coffee and thought the waitress was very nice. Pabletta did get a bit grumpy when he told her. He quite liked the flamenco dancer when she came to school and had a special picture taken. Pabletta got even grumpier! They made up though before they went back to England.

Pablo had a great time in Madrid. He did get a bit sad a couple of times when he thought of his friends and family in the UK but the kind and generous people at San Ildefonso made sure that he cheered up. In the end he wanted to go back to see everyone at Green Park but he would have loved to stay longer.

He will see everyone at school next week.

Back in Liverpool

Uncategorized 4 Comments »

Hola. We arrived back in Liverpool safely and were met by lots of parents and grandparents at the airport. I’m sure by now you will already have heard lots of stories of activites and events and friendships but there are, I’m sure lots more to come. So much happenend in such a short time.

The Director of San Ildefonso has asked us to pass on a letter and it can be viewed by clicking on the link.

The spanish parents were delighted to be hosts and in many cases you already know of their warm feelings but we just want to pass on their very kind comments…….which were many. There were quite a lot of tears at our farewell.

Green Park children left a deep impression on everyone they met in Spain for being great children. For us it was summed up our guide in the Royal Palace on the final day. She said, as our tour was just coming to the end, how she had taken many groups of children, but the behaviour and sense of curisoity that our group of children showed was excellent.

We would like to say that our own stay was made so enjoyable by the brilliant staff at the school - who made us so welcome - and the parents …………everything was just delightful!

We have hundreds (or is it thousands of photographs?) and the uploading process is just about to begin but to get them all in is going to take a little while!

This is only a quick note……the next job I have to do is get the fan belt on my car fixed………we broke down on our way home…….so Mr and Mrs Hewer and Mr and Mrs Rafferty & spent a lovely Valentine’s evening in a quiet, romatic spot on the hardshoulder of the M57…………..and who says the girls don’t get treated well.

We are leaving today

This is our last day in Madrid. It has been great.

Didn´t quite get there today

Sunday was, by all accounts a great day with all the families. We arrived at school to hear lots of stories of where the children had been and what they had got up to. We visited the park and although Pablo got into a little trouble with the local constabulary the rest ot the day was quite peaceful. We were taken out by the staff of San ildefonso and had a very nice time. There a some photos at www.greeparkschool.phanfare.com

Once we get back and computer access is a little easier there will be lots more photographs.
