Saturday

Uncategorized 8 Comments »

Saturday was a long but lovely day. We set off in a coach that picked us up just outside school and travelled for about an hour and a bit to Segovia (up in the mountains). We first visited the education centre and found out a bit about the palace and the surrounding countryside. Then we got back on the coach and went to visit the palace. It is a beautiful place and everyone enjoyed the walk throught the gardens and the children and the teachers and the parents had a lovely time. Then we got back onto the coach for a short ride to the picnic area. We had some great food and then had a fab time climbing and running and playing football and Mrs Rafferty had a go on the monkey bars…she didn´t quite get to the end but very nearly.

The spanish parents who travelled with us were absolutely fantastic. They have been so generous and kind and friendly and welcoming. The care of Green Park children has been exceptional. The children have been very well behaved and polite as well!

Today is a “rest” day but judging on the activities that are planned by the families i´m not sure “rest” is quite the right word. Michael and Trevor are heading for mountains in search of snow to go skiing.! Mrs brankin and Mrs Hewer and Mrs Rafferty are bit disapointed though……….the shops are closed on Sunday in Madrid!

Again, best wishes to everyone and we will see you soon.

Good morning

Good morning to everyone in the Uk. We are just about to start our Saturday adventure to Sergovia. We are going with lots of people from school so we should have a great time.

The school disco was fab…there were lots of balloons, dancing and food. Pablo had a great time. Cinderella (Megan Y5) wore a lovely pair of shoes. Afterwards, when the children had gone back to their spanish homes we the grown ups) went to see a great flamenco show.

Once we get back this afternoon, with a bit of luck and good fortune, there will be a few more photographs.

We never stop!

Hi everyone. Sorry that the photographs didn´´t appear yesterday but just as we started to prepare them we had to dash off to the British Council School for our afternoon session and by the time we got back to the school we didn´t get the chance to complete our job.

Today (like the title says) wqe have not stopped. We met at school at 9 o´clock, then got the coach to the games park. Once we had finished that, Mr Rafferty´s group were the winners - well done Jasmine and Sophie- (but Megan -Y5 - lost her shoe in the ball park!) we got back onto the coach and went to see Real Madrid´s ground. It´s not bad but Anfield does have the edge! Then we returned to school, had out lunch and then watched a fantastic flamenco dancing display - Pablo was very impressed. By the way Beth and Megan let Pablo get up to some of his own adventures on Thursday……………………….luckily by the time they got home he had returned. We made sure that he stayed with us today although Real Madrid did want to sign him to replace a player who is going to America soon!

Tonight there is a disco in school so everyone hads gone home to get into their best outfit……….Megan has got a spare pair of shoes!

Everyone sends their best wishes and are looking forward to tomorrow´s trip to Segovia. Thankfully the weather is lots better.

There are some photographs available now and hopefully whenever the opportunity arises I will add to the list. We do have lots of photographs and will make sure that they are available as soon as possible.

We will be in contact soon. Bye for now.

Our first day in Madrid

Uncategorized 11 Comments »

We arrived on Wednesday to a wonderful welcome from everybody at the school. All the children were made to feel very much at home. After a good night sleep ( no phone calls during the  night) the children met for the start of school at 9 am. They were  feeling really excited about their trip on the touring bus around Madrid.

Despite a little rain, a the imaginative use of bin bags, we saw everything that we could see, although Mrs Brankin´s glasses did get a little steamed up and we are sad to announce she has shrunk.

On behalf of the Spanish team, we are very impressed to see how natural and comfortable the kids made us feel all the time. We could see that they have travelled a lot already. Some of them were determined to give a try to their Spanish… it was fun!

We can´t believe it is raining and are seriously thinking about employing you to solve the national water problem. We are contacting the Goverment and they sounded really interested… will keep you informed…

The children are very well looked after…. hopefully not to spoilt when they are back home!

Mrs Brankin has finally packed all her suitcases and is ready to go to Madrid. It took her a very long time but she has managed to get everything in. We don’t know how we are going to get them all on the plane. We might have to leave some of the children behind.

Everybody is looking forward to seeing all the children, mums and dads and teachers at San Ildefonso on Wednesday……………….and so is Pablo!

Pablo the bear is very busy at the moment packing his suitcase. He is quite naughty because he keeps putting too much in and Mrs Rafferty has to sit on it to squash everything in!

Mrs Brankin can’t make her mind up what to take with her. She started with t-shirts, shorts, flip flops……………..but now she is getting out her best woolly jumper and umbrella!
